Phil Mirenda started CGI Motorsports High Performance Driving Schools in 1997. His vision was to introduce newcomers to the sport of grass roots road racing, at a cost that everyone could afford. It also fulfilled his desire to spend more time on the track.

Phil has driven many different automobiles, from small sedans to fully prepared racecars. Of course, as the speed freak that we know him to be, he enjoyed the full race prepared cars the most but never personally invested in one. He’s not known to be an overly patient guy, and whatever little patience he does posses wasn’t going to be wasted on a temperamental, high maintenance race car. (Those of us who know him, realize that his passion is driving the car to the limit, PERIOD. Sorry Phil, we can’t let you touch the tools.)

One day a student shows up at our event and unloads his trailer. As he is rolling his car back, Phil takes notice and falls in love. This is one of the sexiest looking cars we’ve seen in a long time and it’s called a Radical. Wow, we were amazed, not only does this car look the part, we found later that it acts the part. As a matter of fact, it’s the fastest car we’ve ever had at our schools. Some of the competition includes but is not limited to Porsche GT3, T1 Vipers, race prepared BMW M3 & Corvette Z06’s and Ferrari 360 Challenge Cars. These cars all have great drivers but none of the cars could compare with the performance of the Radical. Imagine this great looking car, with this tremendous performance, and then give it “Japanese reliability”…well to Phil, it’s a dream come true.

Not only did his research cause him to purchase one, he felt that this was too good a thing to keep to himself. With Radical dealers in the East, South and West, Phil thought, why should the Midwest be left out?
