Hi Chuck - Just a quick update. I was at the Mid-America Motorplex near Council Bluffs, IA over the weekend for my SCCA drivers school. I passed without problems and they waived my second school requirement as a result of my having been at CGI and my on course performance. Thank you for all your help and your teaching. So now I have my regional SCCA license. I raced in the 1.75hr Enduro with my best friend and National SCCA driver Tom Wallace - he's the guy I was telling you about from White Lake, MI that would make an excellent instructor. We wound up 2nd in class and 19th overall out of 43 cars. Not bad for my first race. On Sunday I drove in the Regional race and placed 3rd in class and 4th overall - again, no complaints as I am getting a lot of seat time getting used to the car. Just as a testimonial, I will say that the time with you was absolutely invaluable for my on track performance - your instruction and my seat time with you really was a huge benefit as I was pretty comfortable with all of the things we were asked to accomplish in each session. My best, Scott Dear Chuck:
Phil / Chuck thank you so much for putting on the best damn driving schools period. It is such a pleasure to run at a fantastic track with great friends in a low key and professional event. Pictures coming soon. Everyone else who was there - it was great seeing you all and having fun once again. Can't wait till we can do it again!… -Nick Chuck and Phil, Thanks again guys for an absolutely fantastic season of driving. It was great coming out to Gingerman and seeing everyone again. As a measure of just how good of an operation you guys are running, I found it really interesting to hear all of my friends driving the RSXs and the Sentra comment about how much more thoroughly they enjoyed themselves at Gingerman this time around as opposed to when we had all attended the ClubSi Lapping Day at Gingerman. It's a completely different environment which is much more conducive to both learning and having a good time. I know all of them walked away with a lot of appreciation for what it is that you guys do. For me personally, I know that I've learned more than I ever would have figured. Just from the beginning of this year to now, I know that I've gotten much faster, but more importantly, more consistent as well. Last night before going to bed, I watched a tape that was recorded from inside my car. After watching some of yesterday's footage, I pressed the rewind button and watched the footage from the first Gingerman event I went to in early June. It was ridiculous to see just how different it was! It was like watching two totally different drivers. After seeing that, I was really pleased with how things had gone this year. I'd like to thank you guys not only for providing guys like me a place to drive our cars, but more importantly, the proper atmosphere and environment in which we can drive hard, learn a lot, and have fun. Anyway, thanks again for such a great time. I'm already looking forward to next year. Keep in touch, take care, and can't wait to see you guys again! Thanks! Michael J Ostby Hi There, I was at your school yesterday and wanted to let you know it was one of the greatest things I have ever done. I cannot express how impressed I was with the instruction (and instructor) as well as the amount of time on the track. As I first timer I was nervous about the whole day, I was put at ease right a way and had such an amazing time I don't think I can put it into words. Everyone there was friendly and willing to share pointers and tips about driving and the cars themselves. I can't stop thinking about it......I also noticed some of my usual bad driving habits (on the road) disappearing as I made my way home. I will be signing up again....soon! Thanks, Simon Lamb p.s. Next time I want a ride in that NSX! |
